About Us
Manatawny Creek, Berks County
The Manatawny Creek is one of the best kept secrets in Berks County. The Manatawny is stocked by the
state with over 10,000 Brown and Rainbow trout every year. It also has a wild population of Brown Trout.
When the hatches appear the fishing is at its best.

The year starts out with Black Stoneflies in late winters followed by Hendricksons and Caddis. The
Hendricksons show up early, sometimes there is a great hatch on opening day. May brings some March
Browns, Cahills and end with Sulphurs. Things slow down over the summer but pick up in late August and
until the snow flies. During the late summer you can find Trico, Cahills, Sulphers and BWO. Isonychia show
up in September. Hoppers, Ants and any Attractor patterns work in the fall also. The key is knowing where
these flies hatch on the creek. It also helps to know where the trout like to hold in the different times of the
year and water conditions.

The Manatawny offers a variety of water to fish, long calm pools, riffles and fast pocket water. It's an easy
drive from the Philadelphia suburbs and has less fly fishing pressure then most streams. You might even
catch a 16 inch Palomino or 18 inch Smallmouth, I have!

PLEASE  "Catch & Release" to keep the Manatawny Creek a productive
and enjoyable stream year round.
