Rick Nyles, Owner & Guide
I have been fly fishing for over thirty years and S.B.O. has
been in business since 1999. I pride myself on being one of the
best "Dry Fly" fishing guide you will find in Pennsylvania. It
does not matter if you are a novice or experienced fly
fisherman, I offer a guided trip that will increase your
understanding and skill level. If you want to learn how to
"match the hatch", understand the feeding pattern, identifying
the hatch, type of rise, where and how to cast, you have found
the right guide. Don't get me wrong, nymphing is required and a
very productive way of catching trout. But nothing thrills me
more then seeing an 18 inch brown trout working the surface
and trying to fool him. As I call it "let's go hunt heads and

Sometime between his first step and first full sentence, Nick
Raftas stumbled upon a fly rod.  And so began his love affair
with the sport of fly fishing. For nearly three decades he has
honed his skill in fooling various species of fish on flies:
elusive rainbow, brown and brook trout in the Appalachians,
burly stripers from the Atlantic coast, and stubborn salmon
and steelhead from blue ribbon rivers. Nick has mastered
virtually every environment known to fish. You can find Nick
splitting his time fishing for trout in the limestone and
freestone streams
of northcentral, northeastern, southcentral and southeastern
Pennsylvania as well as on the Upper Delaware River system.
Nick is also available to guide on many of the states excellent
wild brook trout streams. You can frequently find him making
the hike to target fish that rarely or never see a fly.

Sky Blue Outfitters is proud to have Nick as part of the team. Nick is knowledgeable in matching the
hatch as well as catching fish when there are no insects visibly present. Nick will not only help you to
catch fish while he is your guide but he will teach you the skills needed to become a successful angler.
Nick can provide instruction on proper equipment setup, knots, choosing the correct flies and
presenting flies properly.
"I'm a novice and Rick put me onto
lots of fish while fine tuning my cast
and presentation skills. Fantastic days
of fishing and great memories. You
won't find a better guide anywhere".
