Manatawny and Tulpehocken Creek Fishing Trip May 4th, 5th, 6th  2012

Enjoy two of the best streams in southeastern PA or we might even fish some of the small
Class "A" streams in the area and fish for wild browns. This package includes a local
professional guide (one guide per two anglers) lodging and food. You will learn nymphing and
dry fly fishing techniques along with casting instructions, how to read the water, fly selection
and leader design. This would be a great trip if you are just learning or
you want to learn more about fly fishing.

Rick Nyles, Guide, who lives Oley Valley and have extensive knowledge
of fishing the best Berks County streams.

Lodging in a local Bed and Breakfast, Yellow House Hotel

Check in Friday May 3rd.  Check out Sunday May 5th. 12 noon

Streams and Creeks:
Manatawny, Tulpehocken, West Branch
of the Perkiomen, Hay Creek or Several Class A wild trout.

All the stream and creeks we will fish will be easy wading.
 
Friday, Arrive at the Bed and Breakfast by 9 am in the morning. Break up into two groups,
one guide per two angler, and head off to one of the creeks. Weather and current water
conditions will be an important factor on which stream we will fish.

  • We will explain the water in front of you, how to read the water.
  • Teach you how to figure out what fly to use, nymph to dry.
  • We will work on you casting techniques, if needed.
  • We will teach you proper netting techniques and take video & photos of your fishing
    experience. A complete CD will be mailed to you after the trip is completed.
  • We will break for a mid-day stream side lunch.
  • Afternoon you will put into practice what you learned in the morning by catching fish.
  • At the end of the day we will get together for a group dinner in a local restaurant and tell
    fish stories.

Saturday, We (the guides) we meet you at the Bed and Breakfast after you have a
continental breakfast. At that time we will decide where we want to fish. It might be a day to go
explore some of the headwaters or go over to the Tulpehocken Creek.

  • We will fish all day until dark, trying some of the techniques you learned the day before.
  • We will break for a stream side lunch.
  • We will meet back a Yellow House Hotel for a fine meal of steaks, ribs or seafood.

Sunday, You are on your own, after your continental breakfast, you can head out and fish yourself at
one of the spots we took you. A Guide is not provided on Sunday but the Manatawny is right down the
road and you can test your skills and see if your casting and catching skills have improved. A Guide can
be provided on Sunday at an additional cost.
